As the players walked out in front of a 15,000 strong crowd at Valley Parade on Saturday you will have heard a poignant tune playing over the tannoy. Stars of the past and presant, have been in the studio recording a cover version of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ that will go on sale to raise funds for the Bradford Burns Unit.
The track, featuring personalities such as the Chuckle Brothers (‘to me, to you), Billy Pearce(‘umpa lumpa stick it up ya jumpa’) and Black Lace’s Dene Michael (Agadoo, doo, doo…), is OUT NOW on iTunes, Amazon and Google Play and you can watch the official video here;
The idea for the single came from lifelong Bradford City fan Lloyd Spencer. Who wanted to produce a special re-record of the original released by The Crowd in 1985.
Fellow Bantam Nigel Hunter helped Lloyd take the idea from idea to reality said of the track: “I am extremely proud of it. It sounds really good.
“The artists have gone way over what we expected and gave their time for free as well.
“I am ecstatic. It’s been a bit of a hard slog, but definitely worth it.”
Nigel added: “I want to say thank you to everybody involved. Tim Walker for producing it, and all the artists – Dene Michael, Clive Jackson, Owen Paul, Billy Shears, Billy Pearce, the Chuckle Brothers, Flint Bedrock, Rick Wild, Danny Tetley, The Aim, Tom and Dom from Bantams Banter, and all the local musicians on it.”
